It will be standing room only. Three thousand people packed into Saint Patrick's cathedral for what Archbishop Timothy Dolan calls "the Superbowl of Midnight Masses."
Earlier today, Archbishop Dolan gave us a sneak peek at what he'll be saying in his Midnight Mass Homily.
"I will read a Christmas letter from a soldier during the Korean War," the Archbishop said.
This afternoon, Archbishop Dolan celebrated Christmas Eve Mass at the firehouse closest to Saint Patrick's Cathedral... Engine 8 Ladder 2. And while everyone was praying for the safety of all firefighters, the family of firefighter Robert Wiedmann Was praying for his full recovery after the Rescue Two veteran was literally on fire battling a Crown Heights blaze on Monday.
"I want to thank all New Yorkers for their prayers, Doug Wiedmann, brother of injured firefighter. "Robbie had his first surgery yesterday and he's doing fine."
And because Archbishop Dolan knew my late father, An honorary usher at Saint Patrick's Cathedral for more than two decades, Lawrence F. Hickey, he knew this would be a tough Christmas for me, my first without my father.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
