Two thugs got more than they could handle Wednesday, when they tried to rob a Brooklyn man as he entered his building on St. John's place.
"Everything happened so quick I didn't have time to think, I just acted on my instincts,"said the man, who did not want to be identified.
"They mostly tell you to just give it up, but our neighbor here gave it back to them pretty good," said neighbor Zach Roskhill.
Surveillance footage showed the Prospect Heights man trying to take out the keys to his building, when a man approaches him, grabbing hold of his phone.
As the two men struggle, the thief's accomplice, a much larger man, grabs the man as well.
All of a sudden, it appears that their would-be victim combines a strong kick with a rush of adrenaline, and the two assailants fly backward and realize they picked the wrong guy. Both men take off, without the phone.
The man says he isn't a martial artist, although he says he works out, and says he thinks his loud yelling may have frightened them off.
The police, however, warn people not to do what he did, but to be safe and call the NYPD to get their belongings back.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
