Police and over 100 firefighters are on the scene of a 2-alarm fire that broke out inside a Bronx hospital Wednesday afternoon that left at least two injured.
According to fire officials, crews are responding to the blaze inside Montefiore Hospital in the Norwood section. The fire reportedly started in the hospital's basement just after 1:30 p.m.
Authorities say a portion of the hospital has been evacuated, while the emergency room was completely cleared.
Of those injured include one person for inhalation and another who was shoved outside during the hospital's evacuation.
Reports say heavy smoke could be seen sifting through the hospital's emergency room. The fire has since been contained.
Police were on the scene Wednesday afternoon investigating the fire. Reports suggest it was sparked by an overheated generator.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
