Four pit bulls were found dead in the woods in Manorville on Sunday afternoon according to Suffolk County police.
Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross said the two male and two female dogs were found badly decomposed and one likely suffered a broken neck.
A passing bicyclist found the dogs around 3:30 p.m. Sunday off North Street in Manorville according to Gross.
Gross said he could not tell if the dogs had been in dogfights. He also said it is unclear if the dogs died in the woods or if they where killed elsewhere and dumped in the woods.
A necropsy - an autopsy for animals - is planned for Monday to determine a cause of death, he said.
The ASPCA has offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call (631) 382-7722.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
