It was the horrible smell that led to the grisly and shocking discovery of three bodies inside a Brooklyn apartment building. .
"It was around 12 o'clock that I came and we smelled that foul smell in the air. So we was like is something dead in there?" said Jiselle Lopez a resident of 749 Lafayette Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant.
When Lopez got to her apartment she promptly called police.
The NYPD showed up a short time later and police officers found 3 people inside apartment 2A. All of them were dead with gunshot wounds to the head. Police describe the victims as a young boy and a 44-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman.
Early Tuesday morning detectives were leaning towards declaring this a murder suicide. A gun was found in the apartment, according to police.
Lopez says she last saw the woman and a young boy, she described as the woman's grandson, as they entered the building Saturday evening around 6pm.
A block party was going on at the that time. "The music was loud, so we didn't hear no commotion, no gunshots, nothing, no crying," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified.
That neighbor says the woman from 2A works in the building's management company office and her boyfriend works as a porter for the company.
Heartbroken family members were told about the shooting around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Grief stricken, detectives took them away from the crime scene in a police car.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
