Lawyers Meet In Advance Of NY Beheading Trial

Attorneys plan to meet again later thisweek before the founder of a Muslim-oriented television stationgoes on trial on charges he beheaded his estranged wife inside thestation's New York studios.

Defense and prosecution lawyers discussed jury selection andother housekeeping matters during a conference Tuesday in ErieCounty Court in Buffalo. They agreed to check in with the judge afinal time on Friday.

The second-degree murder trial for 45-year-old Muzzammil Hassan(moo-ZAHM'-mel HAH'-sahn) is scheduled to begin with jury selectionJan. 10.

Hassan is accused of killing Aasiya (AH'-see-ya) Zubair Hassanat Bridges TV in February 2009. Muzzammil Hassan had been servedwith divorce papers a week earlier.

The Hassans started the station with the goal of improving theimage of Muslims in America after 9/11.
