Through his decades as a professional baseball player, and in the broadcast booth, Ron Santo spent plenty of nights in a hotel room.
How fitting, then, that the Westin Michigan Avenue decided to re-tool one of its corner suites, Room #1000, in honor of Santo. Now dubbed the Ron Santo Suite, the room features both a living area and a bedroom, with walls covered in photos from Santo's long career as a Chicago Cub.
We were able to tour the space today and speak with members of the hotel staff and Ron Santo, Jr., who helped provide many of the photographs. A stay in the suite will cost $600 per night, but $100 of that fee will be donated to JDRF. The hotel also announced they will be donating $100 per every Cubs home win to the foundation.
My feature on the Santo Suite will air on the WGN News at Five. It will be posted here afterwards. For more information and to book a stay, visit the Westin's website HERE.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
