(WGN-AM)- A United Airlines steward faces a misdemeanor battery charge after a 16-year-old boy accused him of rubbing his arm and making inappropriate remarks during a flight from Los Angeles to Chicago, police said today.
Jaime Daria Samia, 57, of Long Beach, Calif., was released on $100 bond after he was arrested Tuesday afternoon at O'Hare International Airport, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor.
The boy's father told police Samia rubbed the boy's arm and made inappropriate remarks, Taylor said. Samia continued to try to touch the boy inappropriately and make inappropriate remarks throughout the four-hour flight even though the boy asked him to stop, Taylor said.
Further details about the incident were unavailable.
A representative of United was not immediately available for comment this morning.
Samia was arrested at O'Hare Tuesday about 1 p.m. after the flight landed about noon. He was released from the Jefferson Park District lockup after posting bond, Taylor said, and was scheduled to appear in Branch 23 of the Cook County Criminal Court on Aug. 11.
