(WGN-AM)- Two girls from Harvey -- a 15-year-old and her 3-year-old niece -- who had been missing since Monday afternoon were found this evening in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood.
A Harvey police detective said the girls were found safe this evening near the intersection of 76th Street and State Street.
Police said Hynephia Armstrong, 15, had run away from home and was accompanied by her niece Verniyah-Anice Gammons, 3.
About 2 a.m. Tuesday the Harvey Police Department received a call of two missing juvenile girls, officials said.
Police responded to a residence in the vicinity of East 161st Street and Wallace Street where they learned that the girls were last seen at about 1 p.m. on Monday, a police press release said. At that time, both juveniles allegedly were headed to Taft Park.
