The driver noticed he was being followed and sped away, hitting the eastbound bus in the rear at 7900 S. Perry Ave.
The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Eight people on the Route No. 79 bus, all adults, were taken to four area hospitals in good condition.
The bus sustained damage to the rear, said CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles. She described the passenger injuries as "minor."
