(WGN-AM)-Congressman Danny Davis is forming an exploratory committee to make the run for Cook County Board President.
In a recent poll commissioned by Davis, 79% of likely and registered Cook County voters said it is time for a change in the county board presidency. The poll of 600 voters found Todd Stroger, the current Cook County Board President, with a 77% disapproval rating, while 70% of voters think County Government has taken a wrong turn.
The poll shows Davis with over a 60% positive rating across Lakefront Wards, the South Side, the West Side and the South Suburbs. The poll included all of the candidates announced, as of May 25th.
Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown was not included, because she had not declared her candidacy when the poll was conducted.
Davis says there are too many issues that need to be addressed, including improving County Health Services so the poor and indigent do not have to spend hours waiting for appointments and prescriptions.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
