(WGN-AM)- A memorial service for John Callaway, the veteran Chicago radio and television newsman, is set for 3 p.m. Sunday in Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave.
Callaway, 72, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday in Racine, Wis.
A master of the one-on-one interview, Callaway originated "Chicago Tonight" on WTTW-Ch. 11 in 1984 and hosted the show for 15 years.
He later hosted "Chicago Stories" segments on Ch. 11 and interviewed local and national figures on the station's Friday night program.
Before coming to TV he was news director at WBBM-AM, overseeing the station's transition to an all-news format in 1968.
