William Byrd welcomed Glenvar to Bob Patterson Stadium this week. The Terriers were playing their final non-district game of the year before closing with five straight Blue Ridge District opponents. Vinton was also celebrating Homecoming tonight.
Glenvar got the ball to start, but on just their 6th play Levi Mullins lofted a ball down the far sideline. Darryl Preston was there for the pick and he was thinking six. He went 48 yards on the interception return making it 7-nothing Byrd.
Simeon Horstmann got another Terrier TD. Byrd got the ball back and kept feeding the junior. He went for an 18 yard score this time as he spun out of a couple tackles.
Glenvar was down 21-zip and decided to pull out the trick plays. A double reverse before Markel Jones put up a pass was caught by Shaquille Bonds for a big gain. But the drive stalled inside the red zone when the Highlanders' Ean Cole lost the football. And on the very next play Zac Hill made them pay. He was gone on the QB keeper and went 88 yards untouched to the house.
The Dog pound was loving it as they finished with a 58-34 win for the Terriers.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
