Carnival Liberty, the first ship to undergo dining and entertainment upgrades as part of a $500 million Carnival Cruise Lines' Fun Ship 2.0 initiative, returned to service last weekend.
According to Carnival, the ship's new features include:
Guy’s Burger Joint: A free casual burger joint offering a specialty burger menu designed by Food Network’s celebrity chef Guy Fieri.
RedFrog Rum Bar: A poolside version of the line’s popular RedFrog Pub that debuted on Carnival Magic offering a quintessential Caribbean vacation vibe.
BlueIguana Tequila Bar: Features a laid-back Mexican-themed atmosphere and a variety of tequila-based frozen drinks and beers.
BlueIguana Cantina: A casual eatery that evokes the feel of a fun, relaxed Mexican beachside dining spot serving authentic tacos and burritos.
EA SPORTS Bar: Created in partnership with the leading sports videogame brand where guests can catch the latest action and play popular EA SPORTS video games on a 16-screen video wall.
Alchemy Bar: A vintage-themed cocktail “pharmacy” with imaginative cocktails and a wide array of ingredients.
A revamped nightclub experience: Showcasing DJs trained by celebrity song master DJ IRIE, Carnival’s official DJ who created DJ IRIE’s Spin’iversity, the first DJ academy at sea.
Carnival Liberty's dry dock also included new carpeting, tile work, wall coverings and furniture, as well as other cosmetic upgrades and routine maintenance, the Miami-based cruise operator said.
Carnival Liberty operates 7-day cruises from Miami year-round, alternating weekly to the eastern and western Caribbean.
Fourteen Carnival ships are slated to receive many of the new enhancements within the next four years. After this year's Liberty, you'll see new features on the brand new Carnival Breeze, set to debut in June 2012. The Carnival Dream will then receive some enhancements when it goes into drydock in September 2012, followed by the Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory and Carnival Splendor. The Destiny, Legend, Pride and Victory are up in 2013, the Elation, Freedom, Triumph and Valor in 2014 and the new Carnival Magic and Carnival Paradise in 2015.
