Were you there? Were you among the thousands who participated in the 40th annual Fiesta Days weekend activities that make our community so unique?
If you were, may I thank you on behalf of your host, the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Association. We hope you and your family, friends and neighbors had a fantastic time (as well as took the time to remember those that have given their lives in the armed forces) and took advantage of the many activities and events that took place over Memorial Day weekend.
Did the planning look effortless? Did everything appear to run smoothly and seamlessly? What you experienced was the result of a year’s worth of preparation and planning (not to mention some blood, sweat and tears) by many, many volunteers, community organizations and corporate sponsors. We thank our partners: The Community Center, A.M. and Noon Kiwanis Clubs, LCF Tournament of Roses Assn., Athens Services, Lanterman House, NASA Services, city of La Cañada Flintridge, Allen Lund Company, Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, Allied Waste Services, Misplaced Priorities, Los Gringos Locos, Printefex, Jewel City Model A Club & Early Rodders, LCHS Jazz Band, L.A. County Sheriff and Fire departments, and all of our Fiesta Days sponsors and participants.
There are hundreds of volunteers who deserve our appreciation and gratitude and I wish I could list all of them here. Please allow me to recognize a few individuals who brought it all together: Barbara Marshall (State Farm Insurance), Fiesta Days chair; Susanne Passantino and Vanessa Mapula (Allied Waste Services), parade chairs; Dr. Joe Puglia, Memorial Service; Julie Jaross (Dilbeck Realtors), Saturday Evening In The Park chair; Kobey Horn, safety coordinator; Allen Lund (Allen Lund Company), grand marshal and fireworks sponsor; Bent Hansen (Los Gringos Locos), Family Barbecue; Jordan Stone (LCHS music director); and Jennifer Seastrom, Foothill Boulevard pole banners.
And who oversees all of this, year after year, meshing thousands of individual moving parts and coordinating the efforts of our many volunteers? None other than our small but extraordinary Chamber staff — President/CEO Pat Anderson, June Beemer, Starr Frazier and Olivia Brown.
If you enjoyed this year’s Fiesta Days and look forward to spending your Memorial Day weekend in town to watch the parade, or take in the Family Flick under the stars, or enjoy a French toast breakfast while admiring some beautiful vintage automobiles, or cheer on the fireworks, or show respect for fallen veterans, or simply embrace the opportunity to relax in the park with a few thousand of your neighbors and friends on a beautiful afternoon in your hometown, please consider joining the LCF Chamber as a residential member. It is only $40 for an annual membership. We would appreciate your financial support as well as your comments and suggestions for making next year’s Fiesta Days even better! Please give the Chamber a call at (818) 790-4289.
