Thinking of taking a cruise soon? If so, you're in luck, as many cruise operators are now offering discounts and incentives to woo travelers into cabins for holiday cruises or early 2014 sailings.
Starting Sunday, consumers will find bargains aplenty during National Cruise Vacation Week (NCVW), which runs through Oct. 27, and is billed as the world's largest cruise sale.
Promotional savings will include reduced deposits, onboard spending credits up to $500, balcony upgrades, free specialty dining, among other perks.
“National Cruise Vacation Week provides consumers with tremendous options on a cruise vacation anywhere in the world,” said Christine Duffy, president and CEO of Cruise Lines International Association, the trade group whose members are sponsoring the promotion. “Thousands of CLIA travel agents are certified to help consumers pick the cruise of their dreams during NCVW as well as all-year long.”
Several cruise lines operating at South Florida ports are participating in the sale, including Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises and Holland America.
"This week generates an exceptional amount of interest in cruising and we want to recognize that with a very special offer," said Richard Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Line, in a statement. "Not only will we be featuring shipboard credits, but guests can combine this offer with our fantastic Explore4 savings, making it the best time to book their dream vacation."
Holland America's Explore4 promotion is available on select December holiday cruises and 2014 sailings and includes a free Signature Beverage Package or beverage card, free specialty restaurant dinner, free or reduced fares for third and fourth guests in the same stateroom. Travelers booking select cruises during the week-long promotion will also receive shipboard credits of up to $200 per cabin, based on length of cruise and cabin type reserved.
