Back story: Developed by Donald Trump and Dezer properties, the Trump International Beach Resort opened in 2003. The resort boasts its own private beach and grotto-style pool complex. Each of the 390 oversized rooms and suites has a balcony with either an ocean or Intracoastal view. The lobby and public areas are a joy for art lovers, with a stunning water sculpture greeting you upon entering the hotel, and a variety of contemporary art decorating the lobby and public areas. Unique here is the fact that the artwork is for sale. A dedicated convention services and catering team is in place, along with 22,000 square feet of function space for conferences and events. A highlight for groups is the resort's American Classics Collection museum featuring over 150 classic automobiles and over 150 classic motorcycles.
Just for fun: Work out at Aquanox, ranked as one of the "Top Resort Spas" by Conde Nast Traveler in 2008. Enjoy a massage or facial, break a sweat on the cardiovascular and weight training equipment, then wind down in one of the aroma showers or sauna. After you recuperate, indulge in the Salon at the Trump. The internationally trained staff is led by French owner and stylist Agnes Barbaza. With locations in Paris and South Beach, Barbaza's salons offer everything from a quick manicure to a head-to-toe makeover.
Eat, drink and be merry: In January 2010 the Asian inspired Sushi Lounge opened. Enjoy contemporary Japanese cuisine amid an atmosphere of Zen-like tranquility. There are 45 varieties of sushi-rolls available, along with light salads, appetizers, Tataki tuna and other favorites. Head to Neomi's for tropical cuisine inspired by Florida culture.
Just for kids: The Planet Kids Children's Program is offered for ages 5-12. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, and is complementary for hotel guests. Activities include off-property excursions, beach and pool games, arts and crafts, as well as explorations of South Florida's marine ecosystem and subtropical environment. Kids are taught and entertained by green initiative ambassador "Globie," the resort's Earth shaped mascot. On Friday's and Saturday's a special evening program is offered from 6 to 10 p.m.
Sleep well: Each of the spacious rooms and suites features amenities such as sitting areas, microwave ovens, wet bars, luxurious bedding, either an ocean or Intracoastal view, coffee makers, two-line telephones, cable television, high-speed Internet, bath robes and more.
Attractions: A top selling point for the hotel is its central location. Situated between Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale, the hotel offers complementary transportation to Bal Harbour Shops, Aventura Mall and South Beach. The Miami Beach Golf Course is 15 minutes away, as are many museums and cultural activities.
Rate: While room rates start at $236 per night, the hotel often offers special themed packages. The Sun, Shop and Spa shopping package starts at $199 per night and includes a Bloomingdale's tote filled with bottled water and snacks upon arrival, a VIP wallet from Bloomingdale's with special offers and discounts, discounts on property, daily breakfast at Neomi's Grill, mall transportation and a Tired Tootsies Reflexology treatment at Aquanox Spa. Another fun package is the Merry Room Rate, which offers guests a free night's stay on Christmas Day. It is based on a five night stay, for guests who arrive Dec. 20-25.
