It may have been under the cover of darkness, but if you were around Disney's Magic Kingdom this week, you might have caught a glimpse of a giant metal dragon or a flower garden and skeleton skull balancing a rainbow that holds a pirate ship.
After months of design and development, the floats of Dinsey's new Festival of Fantasy Parade have arrived at Magic Kingdom Park.
A video released by Walt Disney Co. gives fans a better look at what to expect from the floats that will be featured in the parade.
The parade will debut in March at Fantasyland inside Magic Kingdom and highlight the stories of "The Little Mermaid," "Peter Pan," "Dumbo," "Pinocchio," and "Tangled," as well as feature a 53-foot long Steampunk-inspired Dragon, which will represent the movie "Maleficent," one of the most anticipated films coming this summer.
The Festival of Fantasy Parade replaces the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" parade at Magic Kingdom, which ended its daily run on Dec. 20. The "Move it, Shake It, Celebrate It" and "Main Street Electrical Parade" will continue throughout the transition.
"Maleficent" tells the untold story of one of Disney's most iconic villains, Maleficent, the antagonist in the 1959 classic "Sleeping Beauty." Maleficent will be played by Angelina Jolie. Disney fans watching the Grammy Awards were given a sneak peek of the new film Sunday with the airing of the official trailer.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
