Disney World: Princess Fairytale Hall to open at Magic Kingdom on Sept. 18

Princess Fairytale Hall, a meet and greet area for royal Disney characters, will open at Magic Kingdom on Sept. 18, Disney World said Friday.

The area is part of the theme park's New Fantasyland expansion and is located in the shadow of Cinderella Castle. It replaces Snow White's Scary Adventures attraction, which opened with Magic Kingdom on opening day in 1971.

In Princess Fairytale Hall, theme park guests will be able to choose from two queues, one featuring Cinderella and one featuring Rapuznel ("Tangled"). Each of those characters will have a "visiting" princess in her queue, and that lineup is expected to rotate.

The new space has a castle-like entrance, high ceilings, wood-paneled rooms, six princess portraits, stained-glass windows and decor inspired by animated films. FastPass and FastPass+ options will be available for the hall, Disney says.

It's the penultimate piece of the New Fantasyland expansion, the largest growth spurt in Magic Kingdom's history. The project is scheduled to be complete next year with the opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster.
