Disney let some more goods out of its proverbial bag with a video detailing the Enchanted Tales With Belle attraction in the Beauty and the Beast section of the new Fantasyland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
The video details how visitors, who enter into Maurice's Cottage in Belle's Village will be transported through a portal, meaning walk through a door, to the Beast's Castle. What Disney has done is take a character meet-and-greet to the next level.
Once through the portal, people enter a room where they are greeted by the Wardrobe from the film, a talking, interactive character with animated face and all.
"In the movie, Lumière, Cogsworth and of course the Wardrobe really made a huge effort to make Belle feel welcome and at home in the castle," said Ted Robledo of Walt Disney Imagineering. "The tables have turned a little bit now. We the guests are invited by the Wardrobe to go on an adventure and make Belle feel welcome now here at the castle."
Disney cast members working with the talking Wardrobe proceed to hand out a series of props to the visitors to play roles such as the Beast, the footstool dog and so forth. Guests are then called into the next room by the French-accented candelabra Lumière. Once in the room, Lumière is revealed, and is impressive with animatronic movement and face projection similar to that seen in the Haunted Mansion.
"He's alive. He's greeting all the kids as they come in. He's chatting with everyone," said Chris Beatty of Walt Disney Imagineering. "Once everyone enters the library and things kind of calm down a little bit Lumière of course calls out to Belle and the doors open up and Belle comes in the room."
Next up, Lumière and Belle invite the visitors decked out with their props to act out roles from the film.
Both the Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid sections are among the next phases of Fantasyland to open. A preview of these will begin Nov. 19 with a grand opening set for Dec. 6.
Other parts of Fantasyland will be rolled out at later dates including a meet-and-greet with Goofy, Donald, Minnie and Daisy in Storybook Circus, the Princess Fairytale Hall which is being built where the old Scary Adventures of Snow White ride, and in 2014 the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster.
Opened earlier this year were the dueling Dumbo rides, Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster, Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak station as well as a train stop in the Storybook Circus section.
