West Ocean City hotel damaged by fire

A fire on Monday damaged a West Ocean City hotel but resulted in no significant injuries.

Ocean City Fire Department, along with the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company, responded to The Bedtime Inn & Suites at 12534 Ocean Gateway about 12:30 p.m. to find black smoke coming from the single-story hotel.

Officials said the fire was contained to one of the hotel's units and was quickly extinguished.

Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office said the affected hotel room was unit 143. The fire marshal is investigating the blaze but has not determined the cause or an amount of damage.

A call on Tuesday reached the front desk of the hotel, which appeared to still be operating. The Bedtime Inn is ranked no. 82 of 104 hotels in Ocean City, according to TripAdvisor. Overnight rates for the hotel start at around $80 on Expedia.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Worcester County Chief Deputy Matthew Owens at 410-632-5666.
