Yesterday's weather made me think of the beach and reminded me about a new event set to kick off the summer season in Ocean City.
On May 31, the town will host the first-ever Ravens Ocean City Beach Bash. The four-day festival comes on the heels of Memorial Day and probably means there will be just one big. non-stop party week downy ocean.
Organizers said the event, sponsored by Miller Lite, will include Ravens players, cheerleaders, mascot Poe and talent from 98Rock as they "turn Ocean City into Ravenstown" for the weekend. Activities will include family fun night at Jolly Roger Amusement Park, the first edition of the Ocean City Purple Friday Caravan, live broadcasts with 98Rock, bar crawls, the Annual Ravens Roosts parade, a bonfire at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel and a 7-on-7 high school football tournament, presented by Under Armour.
"We are excited to partner with Ocean City in this unique fashion," said Gabrielle Dow, vice president of marketing for the Ravens. "This is an opportunity to interact with fans we typically don't see and in a manner in which we have not done in the past."
Many of the events take place at The Clarion Resort Fountainbleu Hotel, the official Ravens Beach Bash headquarters, but packages to join the Beach Bash weekend are available through multiple hotels. Clarion OC offers reservations that include a beach bag, drink tickets and a commemorative Ravens/Clarion t-shirt and start at $266 per night.
