It can't hurt to be shopping at a surf shop and hear the crash of the waves right behind you. Malibu's Surf Shop at 8th Street and the boardwalk has been an Ocean City staple for years and with its location, it is exactly what a surf shop should be like.
Malibu's has a great selection of board shorts, clothes, hats, sunglasses, but what really sets it apart is the feeling the location and decor brings to the shop. The sun, sand, breeze and sounds of the ocean accent the shop and lead you into a store that fits perfectly with its location. The inside is quaint and laden with caramel colored hard wood, but packed aesthetically with gear. Malibu's also has a lot of self-branded merchandise if you want a cool shirt or sweatshirt to take home from the beach.
If you cruise downstairs in the store you will find the walls lined with surfboards, which according to Malibu's website, are all handmade with no overseas factory production. The shop also offers private surf lessons and rentals as well as paddle boat tours.
In addition, Malibu's offers a daily surf report on their website, which includes information on what beaches are surf-designated as well as general facts about the weather and water temperature. They also host a surf report camera for Surfline.com and do a live radio surf report on Irie Radio 98.1 FM every morning at 7 a.m.
