Best family dining: The Dough Roller
Various locations, doughrollerrestaurants.com
With a menu of family favorites including pizzas, pancakes and hot dogs, Dough Roller is always a safe choice for the learning-to-read crowd and their weary parents. (And it doesn't hurt that grown-ups can order a beer, wine or cocktail.) The first Dough Roller opened in 1980, and now there are four locations, though only the South Division Street restaurant serves fried chicken and soft-shell crabs. The other three Dough Roller restaurants make up for it by opening for breakfast.

The number of visitors to Ocean City was up more than 8 percent on Memorial Day weekend, according to official estimates.
A city spokeswoman said Demoflush numbers showed an average of more than 251,000 visitors this year compared with 231,000 in 2013. Ocean City uses Demoflush statistics, based on the amount of wastewater used, to determine changes in population from week to week.
"This Memorial Day Weekend will definitely go down as one of the best ones in memory," said Jessica Waters, communications manager for Ocean City, in an email. "Along with perfect beach weather, we had outstanding crowds on the Boardwalk and businesses."
The Ocean City Police Department reported that crime during the weekend was "on par with years past." However, they reported very few criminal incidents.
"This is a great start to the summer considering the increase in the number of visitors that we saw," said Lindsay O'Neal, police spokeswoman.
