As Dew Tour launches the first day of competition in Ocean City, businesses on the boardwalk and beyond are amping up their efforts to attract customers as the influx of action sports fans hit the town.
Local surf shop Quiet Storm on the boardwalk is going all in on making Dew Tour weekend their best of the summer.
On top of the aggressive advertising that many of the local restaurants and vendors are using to let their presence be known, Quiet Storm is bringing in many of the competing athletes for signings and events inside the store.
Bill Dreibelbis, owner of Quiet Storm, said the summer of 2012 has treated his business well, but he hopes this coming weekend will be the biggest and most successful of the season.
Dreibelbis said Quiet Storm's boardwalk location plans three events during the Dew Tour weekend. First is a signing with the Fox BMX team, which includes competition riders Scotty Cranmer, Drew Bezanson, Chase Hawk and Pat Casey.
Skateboard vert, bowl and Mega 2.0 competitor Bob Burnquist will also be stopping by to do a signing on behalf of one of his many major sponsors Oakley sunglasses.
And finally in a very unique and special event, California native, Reef surfer girl and musician Catherine Clark will be performing upstairs in the girls clothing section of the store. Clark will be there on behalf of Reef and according to Dreibelbis, will be giving lucky fans Reef shoes and swag after the performance.
