Visitors to the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival will return to medieval times as a cast of knights, maidens, minstrels and more assembles Oct. 11-13 in Las Vegas.
The festival, in its 20th year, brings together a roster of more than 50 shows each day, including historical reenactments, parades and artisans demonstrating skills such as blacksmithing, stone carving and toy making.
The Knights of Mayhem will make their Las Vegas debut in a full-contact, professional jousting contest.
Jousting is a passion the participants turn into a competitive sport. They don 130 pounds of steel armor before charging at one another atop their steeds, carrying lances made of solid hemlock. The eye slots in their helmets are 1/4 -inch wide.
The event will be at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road in Las Vegas (near McCarran International Airport) from 10 a.m-10 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 13.
Admission is $10 per day for adults and $5 for seniors (60 and older) and kids (ages 5-12). Three-day passes are also available. Advance tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
