"Check It Free" promotion from InterContinental Hotels
What's the deal: Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has extended its "Check It Free" promotion through April 30. IHG, owner of Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge and Candlewood Suites brands, among others, will reimburse guests up to $100 in checked baggage fees for each round-trip flight with a two-night weekend stay at any of its 4,500 hotels worldwide.
IHG initiated its first "Check It Free" promotion period last fall to help guests save on travel expenses. Building on its popularity, the hotel group has extended the promotion period and doubled its reimbursement offer to $100 from $50.
What are the savings: Depends on which airline you fly and how many bags you check. Download a rebate form online and submit it with copies of your hotel receipt and baggage fee receipt of up to $100 per household for two bags on the same trip. All submissions must be postmarked by May 31.
What's the catch: The reimbursement is in the form of an IHG prepaid VISA card. To qualify, you must pay for your stay using a VISA credit card. Bookings made through third parties (Travelocity, Orbitz) are eligible, but require more documentation. However, "name your own price" bookings are excluded.
Information: Go to ihg.com/freebag for rebate forms and more details.
