Deep Creek Dunk
Special Olympics. The 15th Annual Maryland State Police Deep Creek Dunk will be held Feb. 23. After dunking into the frigid water, there will be plenty of food and a wine tasting to warm you up.
Registration for the Deep Creek Dunk is noon Febg. 23, with the dunk scheduled at 2 p.m. There is a $50 minimum donation to register. You may also register online at dunkmd.com.
Chain saw carvers
Bear witness to this performance art as more than 200 carvers gather Feb. 23 to share their craft at the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous. About 2,500 people came to last year's event. This year's Rendezvous will also feature a fireworks display Feb. 22 . And there will be plenty of food.
The event is runs through Feb. 23 in downtown Ridgway. Free to the public. No registration is required. For more information, visit chainsawrendezvous.org.
The New Candlelight Theater, a 75-year-old dinner theater in a quaint barn, will be featuring the Broadway classic (and winner of 12 Tony awards) "The Producers." Laugh at classic lines such as, "I wanna be a producer ... 'Cause it's everything I'm not."

Whitney Houston at Madame Tussauds
Madame Tussauds is honoring Whitney Houston's legacy through a series of four statues depicting pivotal moments in Houston's life. The D.C. location's statue, which went on display this month, depicts Houston during her 1991 Super Bowl performance of the national anthem.
The museum is open noon-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Regular admission is $22.79; discounts are available online at madametussauds.com/washington.
New York City
Twelve New York City craft breweries as well as national and international breweries, celebrity chefs and some of the city's most renowned beer destinations will all be featured in the fifth annual New York City Beer Week. Feb. 22 is opening night, when $45 gets you a tasting glass and refills from over 20 breweries. This is a beer elitist's mecca.
