Feeling crabby? Head on across the Bay Bridge to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort's second annual Crab Week – actually 14 days — featuring crab-themed activities and a five-course tasting menu from celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio.
Voltaggio, of Bravo Top Chef fame, will host a dinner for up to 18 guests at the Cambridge resort's Water's Edge Grill on Aug. 27. (Tickets are $150 per person, plus tax and gratuity.) He'll also serve as a celebrity judge for a crab-focused "Iron Chef"-style competition.
In addition, the resort hosts crab-cake eating contest, a crab cook-off, special crab dinners at the nearby J.M. Clayton Company, plus crab cookie making, crab-walk contests and crabby tattoos for the kids.
The plan: It's very nearly the last gasp of summer, so why not grasp the chance for one more weekend on the shore. Rates for Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort's Crab Week start at $199 per night, Sunday through Thursday, and $249 on Friday and Saturday. When reserving, ask for the Summer Sizzle package or mention offer code SUMSIZ. The rate is based upon availability, double occupancy and is exclusive of tax and resort fee.
The details: Crab Week is through Aug. 28. For more information and to make hotel and dinner reservations, call 800-633-7313 or visit chesapeakebay.hyatt.com.
