MAY

Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival. Pay tribute to the natural wonders of Delaware Bay – the horseshoe crbas and migrating shorebirds – at this festival on May 23 at 10 a.m. at Milton Memorial Park. Visitors can take boat rides, join a scavenger hunt and see arts and crafts as well as live music and food. Free. Info: historicmilton.com

South Side Shoot Out Skimboarding Contest. Team Skim USA will compete May 30-31 at Delaware Seashore State Park in Dewey Beach. Info: skimusa.org

JUNE

Rehoboth Beach Restaurant Week. It's the 10th anniversary for this event where dinner guests enjoy fixed price meals at participating Rehoboth eateries, including Blue Moon, Dos Locos, Espuma, Jam Bistro, Lula Brazil, Papa Grande's, Touch of Italy Rehoboth and Salt Air. Runs June 7-12 in Rehoboth Beach. Get three-course meals for $25, $35 and $45. Info: downtownrb.com

Rehoboth Beach VegFest. Rehoboth Beach's VegFest festival celebrates vegetarian foods June 12-14 with cooking demos, music, art exhibition, yoga village and more. Free festival on June 13, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Epwood United Methodist Church. Info: rehobothvegfest.org

Lewes Garden Tour. Take a guided tour through some of the most beautiful private gardens in historic Lewes at this year's 25th annual tour. Then browse more than 40 vendors at a garden market in Zwaanendael Park. This year's tour includes a Monarch Butterfly Waystation with living birthday cake. Free shuttle service available. Event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the tour. Info: 302-645-8073

Monday Night Movie on the Beach. Dewey Beach offers free movies each week on the beach at Dagsworthy Street, weather permitting. "An American Tail" will kick off the summer-long film fun. Titles will include "The Lego Movie," "Big Hero," and "Jumanji." Movies start at 8:30 p.m. Mondays, June 15- Aug. 24. Free. Info: beach-fun.com

Bonfires on the Beach. Weekly bonfires on Dewey Beach at Dewey Beach Life-Saving Station, Dagsworthy Street. Event held 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m. Wednesdays, June 17-Aug. 26. Free. Info: beach-fun.com

Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival. See works from dozens of sea glass vendors, as well as decoy carvers and waterfowl artists. Festival starts 9 a.m. June 27-28 at Lewes Historical Society, 110 Shipcarpenter St., Lewes. Tickets are $5 per person, per day. Children under 12 are free. Info: 302-645-7670

Outdoor Family Fun Night. Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of Holts Landing State Park in Millville on June 30 at 6:30 p.m. Park naturalists will lead hands-on activities before sunset. Info: destateparks.com

JULY

Downtown Rehoboth Beach July Fourth Fireworks. Main Street's annual fireworks display along the beach and boardwalk in Rehoboth at 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 5. The fireworks, which start at about 9:15 p.m. (weather permitting) are funded by the community and donations are welcome. Info: downtownrb.com

66th Annual Cottage Tour of Art. The Rehoboth Art League presents a tour of seven homes and cottages of Rehoboth Beach, including this year the Homestead, a 1743 Colonial home listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Tour starts at 10 a.m. July 7-8. Tickets are $30. Info: rehobothartleague.org

Nanticoke Riverfest. The two-day festival in Seaford kicks off with a "float in" on the river. Other highlights include the Duck Dash, canoe and kayak races, art show, car show and more, July 10-11. Info: nanticokeriverfest.com

Running of the Bulls. This annual beach tradition, sponsored by local nightlife spot The Starboard, continues the chase on July 11 at 2 p.m.. Info: therunningofthebull.com

Seafood and Arts Festival. The 7th annual festival spotlights local artists and features a variety of seafood dishes with more than 50 vendors. Enjoy music, fresh seafood and activities dockside on July 25 at 10 a.m. at Indian River Marina at Delaware Seashore State Park. Info: destateparks.com

AUGUST

Sand Castle Contest. More than 100 teams show off their sand castle creations on Aug. 1 at Fisherman's Beach at the north end of Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. Event is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Judging is at 3 p.m.) Registration is free. Info: beach-fun.com/sandcastle-contest

42nd Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show. More than 100 artists are showcased on the grounds of the Rehoboth Art League in this annual gathering of fine art, food, entertainment and music. Event starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 8-9 and Aug. 15-16 at the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach. $5 admission. Info: rehobothartleague.org

Eastern Shore Afram Festival. On Aug. 7-8 celebrate the 20th anniversary of the festival that features live music, food vendors, exhibits and more. Located at Seaford Sports Complex, 490 Market St., Seaford. Info: easternshoreafram.org

SEPTEMBER

Riverwalk "Freedom" Festival. The 15th annual festival will be held Sept. 11 in Milford and features food vendors, live entertainment and fireworks. Info: milfordchamber.com

Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival. More than 100 artists display their wares at the annual free event, held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 at Bethany Beach boardwalk. Free. Info: 302-539-2100

Dewey Beach Sprint Triathlon. This three-hour race will be held 7:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at Delaware Seashore State Park. Info: deweybeachtriathlon.com

Tour de Sussex. A cycling community festival and mass ride starts at 8 a.m. rain or shine at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown. Registration ifee s $45 if you register by May 31. Info: dtcc.edu
