Going to the beach doesn't simply mean getting a killer tan. There's also plenty of great fashion and home décor finds along the way. Here's a guide to places to shop while visiting the shore.

Ron Jon Surf Shop

The iconic retailer, now based in Florida but originally launched in New Jersey, is opening its first Maryland location in Ocean City this month. The shop is known for its surf-centric inventory, ranging from boards and wetsuits to swimsuits and casual beachwear, outwear and even jewelry. Ron Jon is scheduled to open in June.

South Moon Under

What originated as a small surf shop in 1968, has exploded into a chain of stores throughout the mid-Atlantic. Carrying names such as Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Free People, French Connection, Plenty by Tracy Reese and Citizens of Humanity, there is a fantastic mix of established designers and trendy up-and-comers. And with locations throughout the region including in Ocean City and Rehoboth, South Moon Under is a must stop for any beachgoer.

Mimi's Closet

Mimi's Closet, a fixture along the eastern portion of the state, offers such designers as Nina McLemore, Aysha Collection, J. Hilburn, and evening wear by Mina Mann. The Easton location, which is just over the Bay Bridge, is an ideal spot to pick up a few items on your way to the beach.

Queenstown Premium Outlets

A stop at the Queenstown Premium Outlets on your way to Ocean City is a no-brainer. Not only does the location have 65 stores, but many of them are among the top for fashionistas. With names such as Kate Spade New York, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, Coach, Gucci, J.Crew, Michael Kors, St. John, Juicy Couture, BCBG Max Azria and Polo Ralph Lauren, it's a must-do on your way to the shore.

Tanger Outlets

Take your pick of the Tanger outlets, on the shore. The Rehoboth Beach location makes the trip up the road to Delaware worth it. Higher-end brands such as BCBGMAXAZRIA, DKNY, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade New York, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste Brooks Brothers and Michael Kors, are joined by American classics such as Lucky Brand, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Izod, J.Crew, Nautica and Under Armour. Meanwhile, the West Ocean City location will be adding more stores this summer.

Jeff West Home

The former visual merchandiser and interior designer has quickly built a following since opening this home decor store in Rehoboth in 2008. West has left his stylish touch in homes from Washington and Delaware to Cape Cod and Maine. In addition to merchandise sold in his store, he is also available for consultation on a fee basis.
