Grotto Pizza plans to open next year in Ocean City

The Baltimore Sun

If you're looking for the best pizza in Ocean City, there's no shortage of opinions. Piezano's and Mione's take the lead on Yahoo. Yelp reviewers favor Pizza Mambo and Fat Daddy's,  while TripAdvisor gives the nod to Pino's. But come next year, there will be another option: Grotto Pizza.

The Delaware institution is heading south to Ocean City, where it plans to starting making pies at a vacant spot on 125th Street that used to be a Dough Rollers. Is that like tossing the pizza pan gauntlet?

According to, Grotto will open in February during Presidents Day weekend. Maybe OC pizza favorites have nothing to worry about. On TripAdvisor for Rehoboth Beach, Grotto runs a distant third to Nicola Pizza (Nicoboli make me rolly polly!)  and Louie's.

On another note - Burgers Surfs Up Cafe opened last month at 54th Street in Ocean City. It's a restaurant/bar serving up classic American food like burgers, wings, sandwiches - including what the menu calls OC's only "crab cake wrap" - plus pizza. Of course.
