Coastal Highway crash sends five to hospital

A multiple-vehicle crash on Coastal Highway near 67th Street sent five people to the hospital just after midnight last night.

Ocean City Police said a Ford Mustang was driving recklessly when it crashed into several other cars, struck trees, went into the median and then burst into flames.

All five people were sent to Peninsula Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A passenger in the Mustang was transported to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment of burns she received in the crash.

Police arrested the driver of the Mustang, identified as Daniel Becker, 19, of Elkton. Becker, who was not injured, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent and reckless driving and speeding.
