Richard Dunn was alone overnight in Las Vegas’ McCarran airport, so he did what any bored passenger would do: He produced a five-minute music video featuring Celine Dion’s “All By Myself.”
“Then I would put it on the moving walkway for a dolly shot,” Dunn wrote on his Vimeo page, the Weekly reported.
The result is a video that asks this question: “What do you do when you’re stuck at the Las Vegas airport overnight?” The answer, according to the opening credits: “Shoot a music video on your iPhone. That’s what.”
It opens with a shot of a blank departure board. It shows people exiting, leaving an empty terminal. The footage strongly supports what travel journalist Peter Greenberg once said: Spending time in an airport is like spending time in a dirty sock (although from the looks of the video, it’s a clean dirty sock).
Dunn lip-syncs the words plaintively. At one point — during the instrumental phase of the song — he ends up in front of a Delta sign that says, “Need help?”
When it comes to entertaining himself — and us — the answer is clearly no.
On Thursday, TMZ reported that songstress Celine Dion had seen the video and was offering Dunn free tickets to her show and a chance to hang out with her next time he's in town.
All by himself no more.
