What's the name of your lovely wife, by any chance?
The only hard costs of this trip are the extra security, [i.e., OVERTIME PAY], the extra fuel for all the vehicles involved, the wear and tear on the equipment used, the cost of meals, lodging, etc., for all employees of the gov't who went along, Everything else, [salaries for govt employees, etc.,] is already a part of the daily operation of the gov't., and should not be included in the accounting for this trip. The media ALWAYS overstates the cost of these trips - regardless of who's in office.
The carbon footprint is meaningless. First, there is no global warming problem, and second, the volcano in Iceland just belched 50 years worth of carbon into the atmosphere, so anything we try to do to fix it is a drop in the bucket. Forget about it.
I don't blame the Obamas for vacationing, I blame them for pushing government takeover of the largest industries in our economy as a way of attempting to control this country.
Anytime they are out of DC the country is safer.

I hope and pray the Obama/Biden Administration moves forward with it’s stated energy and environmental agendas. I know Europe, Saudi Arabia and China are taking the lead in alternative energy technologies, (China investing TRILLIONS). If the USA doesn’t get in the game then we will be buying energy solutions in the future like we bought Middle Eastern OIL in the past. All the jobs from new alternative energy industries will be outside our borders. Every American citizen will be under the thumb of debt for foreign oil. We’ll be victims of ruthless coal mining, natural gas and propane business interests. I think humans have been led by greed stricken m^*#~‘s to believe what is considered VALUABLE. Diamonds, commodities, stocks, cash, credit, gold, luxury car, bling bling, RIGHT!
