Lucky Shops
Where: Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St., New York

When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

What: Lucky Magazine is hosting its sixth annual pre-holiday "Lucky Shops" event showcasing designer clothing, handbags, shoes, jewelry and other items, with most selling at up to 75 percent off retail. The merchandise is offered in a fun, loungelike environment with music, drinks and giveaways. Among the dozens of designers whose fashions, accessories and products will be sold are Jill Stuart, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Kate Spade. The event will also feature a specialty boutique called "Shops for Success," featuring lightly used designer and one-of-a-kind items from Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, and Dolce & Gabanna, as well as vintage designer pieces donated by celebrities. All proceeds from the "Shops for Success" boutique benefit Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides clothing, support and career development for disadvantaged women.

Lucky Shops will also include a Boudoir Bar for lingerie, a Jeanius Bar for denim (free hemming while you wait), a Garnier Fructis Beauty Bar with free hair styling, and boutiques for Havaianas flip-flops.

Nearly 10,000 shoppers from 35 different states attended last year's Lucky Shops.

How much: Advance tickets for Friday are $35 and for Saturday, $20 ($30 at the door).

What's nearby: If you don't get lucky at the designer showcase, there's always Fifth Avenue, New York's shopping mecca.
