The thrill of the chase

Homer, Alaska

A dog pursues a horse in Homer, Alaska. (Steve Luckman, Baltimore)

My wife, Ellen, and I just returned from our first visit to Alaska. One of our stops was at Homer. At the literal "end of the road" is Homer Spit, extending five miles into Cook Inlet. There we saw a horse being pursued by a very small brown dog. The dog eventually tired of the chase and returned to its owners in one piece.
