New York: NYC Restaurant Week

Dining in New York City is notoriously expensive, but if you want to upgrade from the corner hot dog cart, NYC Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity. Luckily, the dining extravaganza has been extended until Sept. 5, so you can sweep your sweetheart or family away to the Big Apple for an impressive meal. At $24.07 for lunch or a flat $35 for dinner, diners can choose from 200 restaurants offering a prix fixe menu that includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. So pick a date and a restaurant and eat, drink and laugh away, without worrying about your wallet. (Check in with foursquare and save even more.) Red Rooster, a Harlem restaurant from Top Chef's Marcus Samuelsson, is one of the participating restaurants. Restaurant Week discounts apply Monday to Friday. Saturday is excluded. Some restaurants offer the discounts on Sunday, but it’s optional. For more information, visit nycgo.com.Paul Brissman, Baltimore Sun
