Distance from Baltimore: About a four-hour flight.
Why it's hot: Carnival. The dual-island nation hosts one of the top Caribbean festivals each year in February. The event only adds to the color of a place called The Rainbow Country by Bishop Desmond Tutu. While Trinidad is more commercial, crowded and bustling, Tobago is more realxed and laid back. Both are home to wonderful beaches, including Pigeon Point, above, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Tobago. So take your pick.
Don't miss: Gasparee Caves. This collection of underground caves is located on the small Gasparee Island off the west coast of Trinidad, and is home to giant limestone caves with crystal clear tidal pools. Visitors can get there by boat and guided tours through the caves are available.
