Distance from Baltimore: About a three-hour flight. .
Why its hot: Located in the Leeward Islands of the eastern Carribean, this two-island state is home to an immense amount of wildlife, coral reefs, dive sites, and a rainforest. The islands offer plenty of activities including zip lining, volcano exploring and scuba diving. A variety of animals, such as monkeys, mongoose and cows are common throughout St. Kitts, a quarter of which is a national park. Nevis Island is a 20-minute ferry ride from St. Kitts.
Dont miss: Mount Liamuiga. The towering volcanos last eruption happened in the fourth century and the site is now home to many local-guided tours and safaris. By foot or by vehicle, visitors can see African vervet monkeys, rock drawings and enormous banyan trees.
