Distance from Baltimore: 644 miles, about a 10- hour drive or less than a two-hour flight.
Why it's hot: Georgias largest barrier island is a designated National Seashore with a vast array of wildlife including armadillos, feral pigs, sea turtles and horses. This calm and peaceful island is perfect for a relaxing getaway, and great for naturists and adventurists. Not to mention it has 17 miles of beautiful beaches.
Don't miss: Dungeness Ruins, above. The Dungeness was built by Thomas Carnegie in 1884 and caught on fire in the 1950s. Today, visitors can see horses and other animals roam through the ruins that line the beach.
