Peach brandy (above) and rye whiskey have been produced at George Washington's Distillery, making Mount Vernon the perfect place for a celebration of the state's wine industry. At this weekend-long festival, guests are invited to sample wine from 16 prestigious Virginia wineries, and take an evening tour of George Washington's home that includes a visit to the estate's rarely-opened cellar vaults.
The festival runs 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 17-19. Tickets are $38, and can be purchased at Mount Vernon's Ford Orientation Center or online at mountvernon.org.
