Distance from Baltimore: 180 miles, about a three hour drive
Why it's cool: Located in western Maryland, Deep Creek is a cozy town surrounded by snow covered hills. With an average snowfall between 100 and 200 inches each winter, you will be able to escape from the city to a winter wonderland. There are several options for accommodations, including private home rentals, ski-in condos, and bed and breakfasts. If you're looking for the warm feeling of a ski-lodge, check out Lake Pointe Inn, a bed and breakfast.
Don't miss: A tour of Husky Power Dog Sledding. Get to know the huskies, play with the puppies, learn about their equipment - and if you book early, take a ride on the dog sled. Also, if the weather cooperates and the lake freezes deep enough, visitors can give ice fishing a try.
