Pictures: Baltimore's Checkered Flag Girls
As roving ambassadors for Labor Day weekend's Baltimore Grand Prix, the Checkered Flag Girls will be appearing throughout the area in the weeks leading up to the event. With hundreds of thousands of car-crazed visitors expected for the three-day event, the Checkered Flag Girls may have their work cut out for them, familiarizing newcomers with the city and ensuring Baltimore lives up to its nickname of "Charm City."
Here's a look at some of the 13 young women who have been chosen.

What do you do when you're not a Checkered Flag Girl?: "Working and taking care of my dogs." Also works part-time for Baltimore County Parks and Recreation and is a student at UMBC.
Were you a racing fan before you became a Checkered Flag Girl?: "I am, sort of. I've become more of a racing fan as I've gotten into it. But I followed it a little bit with my dad, I watched it with him and then I've gotten a little more into it."
Favorite thing about Baltimore: "Ravens. Sports in general."
What would you say to a first-time visitor to Charm City?: "You need to go to the aquarium. Me personally, I love animals and the environment. I'm an environmental science major, and that's the best place to see what Maryland has. You go out here, you don't see lizards, you don't see all those things you see in Florida. But you go to the aquarium, you get everything."
