Why it's romantic: This well-appointed hotel is in the historic district of Maryland's capital, a few blocks from the city's boat-filled waterfront and the Chesapeake Bay. "There's something particularly romantic about the history and charm throughout Annapolis," says Barbara McMahon, the hotel's general manager. "We are fortunate to be in an ideal location to explore the city."
Whom to take: Someone special. The airy, light-drenched lobby and modern, nautical theme are the results of a recent makeover. The fresh look includes 47-inch smart televisions and pretty baths in the nearly 300 rooms and suites. The on-site restaurant, West Kitchen & Tavern, offers a mix of regional pleasures - think oysters and crab bisque - and farm-to-table specialties like fried green tomatoes and corned beef. And the desserts will have any couple swooning.
