Chelios Suits Up With Griffins Friday
He's hoisted the Stanley Cup 3 times, won the Norris Trophy 3 times, and has been an NHL All Star 11 times. Friday night, Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios will suit up with the Grand Rapids Griffins for a 2 day conditioning stint.
Curtis Joseph, Manny Legace, Chris Osgood, and Darren McCarty have all taken the same steps.
Chelios is preparing to play in his 25th NHL season, which would tie him with Mark Messier for 2nd all time in most seasons played behind Gordie Howe. Howe played 26 seasons.
Chelios is expected to play Friday and Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.
We caught up with Griffins' Head Coach Curt Fraser, who talks about coaching a future hall-of-famer and former teammate.
