All eyes are on the US Women's World Cup Soccer team as they head into the finals. Three of the women on that team have a connection to one club team in Central Indiana.

Lauren Cheney, Lori Lindsey and Shannon Boxx all played for Carmel United Soccer Club. Cheney went to Ben Davis High School. Lindsey went to Pike Township.

The young girls on the team now look up to these women who have made their dreams seem attainable.

"It's what I do with my free time," one said. "I don't do anything else."

Gene Lindley has coached with Carmel United for many years. He said he remembers seeing the women come through the program.

"I knew they had the potential to do that," Lindley said. "Only a few players represent the country."

These three women, all world class athletes, are now inspiring little girls to reach their big dream of also playing in a World Cup someday.

If you'd like to watch the local women take the field, the US takes on Japan Sunday in the finals. The US is favored in that game because they've already beat Japan three times this year.
