"We have one of our biggest constructions seasons yet here at INDOT," said Will Wingfield, Indiana Department of Transportation spokesperson.
"If you're traveling south, expect delays on I-65 and I-64," said Wingfield.
Chicago-bound drivers will need to watch out for construction on the toll road, but it shouldn't ruin the drive.
"It's still two lanes in each direction as it's always been," said Wingfield.
Drivers headed to Ohio on Interest 74 should not see any problems, but could run into some slowdowns on Interstate 70 headed to Columbus.
"(It's) still two lanes in each direction," said Wingfield. "Just keep in mind that's a construction zone with a construction speed limit."
There will be orange barrels on the road to St. Louis starting at Interstate 465 where I-74 AND I-70 meet. But Wingfield said there is some relief for folks closer to Terre Haute.
"This year we are pulling back that construction for the Thanksgiving holiday. So you won't see some of those multiple miles where traffic is reduced to one lane."
While you can plan for construction, INDOT suggests using its TrafficWise online map to check for unexpected delays caused by accidents.
