Indianapolis—The City of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. sent out a survey Thursday seeking public input on a new name for Georgia Street. The general public can submit suggestions at Survey Monkey. All responses are due by Tuesday, Sept. 13. A final decision is likely to be announced in late October.
The three-block stretch of Georgia Street between the Indiana Convention Center and Conseco Fieldhouse is under construction to become a more pedestrian-friendly space, complete with an overhead lighting system, boardwalk and more. While it will still be a street, you will be able to walk throughout the space, dine at an outdoor café, attend special events or just relax.

Based on the City’s Address and Guidelines Standards, requirements for a street name include:
1. The name cannot be more than 27 characters total.
2. The first word cannot be a number.
3. It cannot be the name of an existing street.
