A school bus and an SUV were involved in an accident on the eastside of Indianapolis Friday afternoon, injuring several people.

The accident happened at I-70 westbound ramp at the Shadeland Avenue intersection around 1:45 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found an SUV had collided with a school bus, owned and operated by Durham Inc. for the Indianapolis Public Schools.

Witnesses told police the school bus was traveling westbound across Shadeland Ave. to enter the ramp and the SUV was traveling south on Shadeland Ave.  Police said it is believed the SUV ran a red light and struck the school bus.

Police said no students were on the bus.  The driver, 30-year-old Garry Stagg, was the only occupant.  He was transported to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

The occupants in the SUV were also taken to Methodist Hospital.  Rosetta Fluker, 50, Ariel Fluker, 19, Johnnie Fluker, 20, and Kendre Fluker, 13, are in stable condition, with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators do not suspect alcohol or speed to be a contributor of this accident.  The intersection has reopened and all travel lanes are open.
